Fat tax for Denmark

In a world first, Denmark has created a “fat tax”. In other words if you want to wolf down some cake, a burger and chips, be ready to pay more for it, as reported by Sky News.

This is a drive by the Danish government to encourage people to eat healthier foods. The new tax will be imposed on all foods containing saturated fats, from butter, dairy products, oils, and precooked food.  It has prompted people to mass buy and stock up their freezes, leaving supermarkets with nothing but empty shelves.  We wonder if this sort of binge eating will actually leave the Danish population healthier.
